I just returned from my favorite business networking experience, CEOSpace. We have people with every project imaginable, who gather 5 times per year, from all over the world, to meet for a week in Nevada. Some came from as far as Australia.
Although it is a face to face business networking event, it makes it possible for all our members to build their businesses globally. Now-a-days, no matter what you do, you are missing out, if you do not take advantage of expanding your business outside of your local area.
With the Internet, it makes it easy. Storefronts are rapidly closing. Business is being conducted via computer in the comfort of one’s own home. There is less overhead, and far more opportunities to create passive income – the new retirement.
A business owner without an interactive website (a blog) is like a man who is missing his pants. Plus, anyone can learn to make it work, or have someone else do it for you. (out-sourcing) I am a 56 year old, middle aged baby boomer. I figured it out and so can you. Personally, I cringe when I arrive at a 15 year old static website. It sits there like a boring brochure. Sure, you can pour money into Google ad words to make people click on it, but if you can’t truly connect, what is the point? Most Word Press blogs can be installed for as little as $50 per year. The blog itself is free. All you pay for are the domain name and hosting. I use GoDaddy. Add vehicles (plugins) that encourage dialogue between you and your potential customers.
You cannot put up a website, of any kind, and expect money to start pouring in. The key is connection, whether it is through social media or face to face. I prefer to have a combination of both. The advantage of the CEOSpace experience, is that members are on a mission to help each other succeed through cooperative capitalism.
My advice: Think bigger. Expand your business without having to physically build brick and mortar walls. The world is truly your oyster if you are willing to reach out to it.
Let me know what has worked for you in regards to building a global client base, by leaving a comment. I would love to hear your suggestions.
